Stewardship
What You Manage Matters More Than What You Own
By Anthony Von Ogie · VonOg Press

We often measure success by ownership—money, property, titles, businesses, influence, or possessions. But ownership alone tells us very little about the quality of a life. A more important question is how faithfully we manage what has been placed in our hands.
Stewardship begins with the recognition that nearly everything valuable requires responsible management. Time must be managed. Knowledge must be applied. Opportunities must be developed. Relationships must be cared for. Resources must be used with wisdom.
Two people can receive similar opportunities and produce entirely different outcomes. The difference is often not what they received, but what they did with it.
This principle applies far beyond money. Your experience is a resource. Your education is a resource. Your reputation is a resource. Your influence is a resource. Even the lessons learned through failure can become resources when they are managed wisely.
Faithful stewardship also requires accountability. We must periodically examine where our time, energy, money, and attention are going. What are they producing? What is being neglected? What needs to be corrected?
The goal is not perfection. It is responsible management and continuous improvement.
A meaningful life is not built simply by accumulating more. It is built by becoming trustworthy with what we already have.
In the end, what you manage wisely can become far more valuable than what you merely own.
